Aggy on Tractor

Aggy on Tractor

Our Journeys End is a “mini” farm located in Caro, Michigan – right in the heart of the Thumb – and owned by Jeff  and Stacey Smith. We are just beginning our goat adventure with a young, sweet little Nigerian Dwarf doe named Aggy. We fell in love with her gentle and docile nature, and now want to work towards keeping the breed strong and building a quality herd.

Finding Aggy’s heat cycle, and getting her interested in the buck, has proven to be more difficult than we imagined. However, we were finally able to breed her on Sunday, November 7th, 2010. We will continue to monitor her to see if she comes into heat again. If the breeding on 11/7/10 was successful, Aggy’s due date would be sometime between April 1st & April 11th, 2011. She was bred with Happy Tailz XPO Bluebeard.

In August of 2010, both of our goats, Aggy & Gert, were tested for Johnees, CAE & CL, and came back negative on all three diseases. Our veterinarian is Dr. Wernette from the Mayville Vet Clinic in Mayville, Michigan.

We have joined the American Goat Society and have registered our herd name with them – Our Journeys End.

We have also joined the American Dairy Goat Association and have the same herd tattoo for both AGS & ADGA – OJE.

Why Nigerian Dwarf goats? As a little girl, I certainly didn’t dream of growing up to be a “goat herder”. But for anyone who has never been around these little animals, there is a lot of personality, attitude and humor crammed into their tiny bodies. There are many places on the Internet where you can learn more about these darling little goats. For a brief overview, you might want to check out Wikipedia.
